Tours

Not only is the Newburyport Choral Society well known for outstanding concert performances in the North Shore area, but internationally as well.

The 1996 concert tour of northern France was a special experience. Our a cappella performances, both formal and informal, were responded to with standing ovations in many cathedrals throughout the region and received much attention in French newspapers.

One performance that left a deep impression was shared with the Benedictine monks in the abbey at the top of Mont Saint-Michel. Here, while singing for a mass, the timeless chants of the monks intermingled with the a cappella voices of the Choral Society, reverberating throughout the elegantly ribbed and vaulted ceilings.
