Earlier this year, Newburyport Choral Society Director, Dr. George Case, was approached by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) with an extraordinary invitation.
George has an extensive background and is much respected as a conductor and performer in the choral music community as a result DCINY encouraged NCS participation in a concert to be given at Carnegie Hall this June. The singular requirement for participation was that a choral member had to have sung the Fauré Requiem or the Duruflé Requiem, the latter of which NCS performed in December.
Twenty NCS members will be heading to the Big Apple for a three-day weekend to join members of nine other choral groups from across the United States, Spain, France and Cuba. Several other NCS members are planning to attend the rehearsals and Sunday’s concert, which is open to anyone who might plan to be in New York City that weekend. Tickets are available through the Carnegie Hall box office or online: http://www.carnegiehall.org/Events/#!sdate=2015%2F6%2F1
The concert, Requiem a Deux, which will include the Fauré Requiem and Duruflé Requiem, is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall.
It is an opportunity of a lifetime, and with George’s support, NCS participants look forward to an amazing experience of rehearsing and performing with members of other widely respected groups. To all participants: “Break a leg!’
