Upcoming Events of the Newburyport Choral Society—Fall 2023 Season, Dr. Minji Kim, Music Director
Friday, August 4, 2023 –Online Registration Begins for Fall Semester. Registration for the Fall Semester is easy! Just go to www.newburyportchoralsociety.org and look for the information on Fall Semester registration. New singers are always welcome! If you are a first-time NCS singer and want to give the chorus a “test drive,” you don’t have to pay online until after the second rehearsal. Thursday, August 3, 2023 – “Know Your Community” Event at Newburyport Senior Community Center, 331 High Street, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come visit the NCS table at this informative community event, a part of Yankee Homecoming. It’s a fun event where local vendors, services and the arts community can toot their horns (and give you some free stuff and samples, too)! Tell your friends and family who might be interested in singing with us to come by and chat with us.
Monday, August 28, 2023 @ 7:15 p.m.—Reception for NCS Singers, Current, Former and New! Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High Street, Newburyport. Meet our new Music Director, Dr. Minji Kim at a dessert bar and punch reception for NCS members and their guests who may be interested in singing with us in the Fall. After the reception, Minji will describe the music we will be singing for the Winter Concert and lead us in learning a simple musical piece! Whether you are a current or returning NCS singer, or are planning to join us in the fall as a new singer, please RSVP via email to Penny Lazarus at membership@newburyportchoralsociety.org
Tuesday, September 5, 2023 @ 7:15 p.m.–First Rehearsal of the Fall Semester, Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High Street, Newburyport. New singers are always welcome! Each week singers experience the joy of music-making as they learn proper vocal technique, phrasing and other tips from Music Director Minji Kim. In our rehearsals this fall we will be preparing for our Winter Concert (see details below).
November 10 – 19, 2023—Give Voice to NCS Fall Auction: Buy it for a Song! Shop our extensive array of products, experiences and services while you support vocal music in Newburyport. Check our website in October for details!
Saturday, December 9, 2023 @ 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 10, 2023 @ 4:00 p.m.–Winter Concert at Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High Street, Newburyport. Our 2023 Winter Concert, “A Celebration of Unity”, will feature Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols as well as holiday music from various cultures around the globe. We will be joined once again by the joyful voices of the Greater Newburyport Children’s Chorus under the direction of Gina McKeown, along with an ensemble of string and percussion instruments.
