The Newburyport Choral Society welcomes new singers!

Join Us as a Singing Member of the Newburyport Choral Society!

The Newburyport Choral Society enthusiastically welcomes new singers to our musical family each season!  Singers range from high school age to adults and the only requirements for membership are a love of singing, commitment to learning the music, and a willingness to support the success of the chorus in any way that you can.

As an active member you will experience—

  • a rewarding atmosphere of creative outlet,
  • an expansion of your musical horizons,
  • the warm camaraderie of our choral community,
  • a sense that you are contributing to the art and culture of the broader community.

Registration is completed online, and you can join during the first few weeks of either our Fall or Spring seasons. The Fall season usually begins in early September and the Spring season usually begins in early January.

We are currently accepting new singers for our Fall 2022 semester.  Click here for more details

COVID Protocols

The following safety measures have been implemented by the Board of Directors to protect you and all other singers/accompanist/music director.

  • All singers will be required to be fully vaccinated and to have received a booster shot against COVID-19 and will need to show their up-to-date vaccination card prior to being allowed to participate in rehearsals.
  • If you feel unwell, please stay home and watch the rehearsal via Zoom.
  • Singers are no longer required to wear high efficiency, well-fitting masks.  If you do where a mask, please wear one of the following:
    • o       N95 (U.S. manufactured approved)
    • o       KF95 (China manufactured and approved)
    • o       KN94 (South Korea manufactured and approved)
    • o       RESONANCE-95 “Singers” Mask [ RESONANCE-95 Singers Mask ] Many singers find a singer’s mask such as the RESONANCE-95 works the best for singing.
    • In order to assure a better face mask fit and seal, it is recommended that masks be fitted with ties that extend fully around the user’s head in order to increase the pressure of the mask edges against facial surfaces.   If your mask does not come equipped with a top and bottom set of elastics or ties and only has ear-loops, the NCS Board strongly urges you to acquire and properly use a face mask “extender.”
    • Any singer who is experiencing any symptoms of illness is expected to stay home from rehearsal. Remote learning options (such as Choral Tracks and Zoom) will be provided.
    • Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 within 7 days of attending rehearsals will be asked to notify the NCS President. NCS will then notify NCS members of possible exposure.
