Spring 2023 Singer Registration and a Special Spring Musical Collaboration!

Calling all singers!

Registration is now open for the Spring 2023 music season!

After two inspiring and successful Winter 2022 concert performances, the Newburyport Choral Society is pleased to announce our Spring 2023 semester music rehearsals will begin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday evening, January 17, 2023 at Belleville Church, 300 High Street, Newburyport.  Please arrive by 7:00 p.m. to pick up music and sign in.

Newburyport Choral Society is thrilled to announce an exciting spring season under the leadership of Music Director Ryan Turner! NCS will perform Carl Orff’s masterpiece, Carmina Burana, joining forces with the Boston Camerata under the direction of Anne Azéma. This unique modern vs. medieval concert will highlight Orff’s 20th Century version of Carmina in a musical dialogue with the original medieval form. In addition to NCS and members of the Boston Camerata, the concert will feature the Greater Newburyport Children’s Chorus, two pianists, five percussionists and professional soloists. You won’t want to miss this sensational springtime celebration!

Who should join us this season?

Everyone is welcome! NCS is a non-auditioned community chorus and accepts members based simply on their desire to sing. Members share a love of singing, a commitment to learning the music, and a willingness to participate in the life and well-being of the chorus.

How do I register?

If this will be your first time singing with us, or if you are a returning singer but did not participate during the Fall of 2022, send an email requesting an invitation for online registration to help@newburyportchoralsociety.org. Please include your voice part. You will then receive an invitation and instructions for online registration.

Returning singers who participated during the Fall of 2022 will register via their Chorus Connection accounts. Just go to https://www.chorusconnection.com/ and sign in.

Join us! We sing together, learn together, laugh together, and strive together for excellence in performance.

Tell your friends! We would love to grow our numbers, especially tenors and basses.

And for those who might be on the fence about joining the chorus, you can “try it on for size” by attending our first rehearsal on January 17, and then registering online before the second rehearsal on January 24. Please arrive by 7:00 p.m. to sign in at the welcome table.

We are so excited about our upcoming season, and look forward to seeing you in the new year!
