In Memory of Karen Norcross

Karen Norcross, RN

The Newburyport Choral Society remembers our fellow singer, Karen Norcross RN who passed away this summer in July 2023 after a short illness. She had been a member for several years as a Soprano and loved singing and being a part of the Choral Society.

During Karen’s time as an NCS member, she also was working as an Emergency Room  nurse at Salem Hospital  but had recently retired.  Karen’s expertise in triage was a benefit to NCS as she always had a watchful eye on all of us especially during our performances and while singing herself!  Karen recruited those of us who were Nurses, PA’s, and MD’s in the group to also be on alert for anyone not feeling well in our own sections while performing.  Those of us she recruited to be on the lookout always felt we were in good hands with Karen as our coordinator since she was an experienced ER nurse.  She was serious about all of us being well hydrated before a performance especially if the weather was warm and was ready with water in each section if needed.

She will be truly missed as our watchful angel and soprano voice and in her name the Newburyport Choral Society is donating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Belleville Congregational Church community.

We will sing our hearts out for you Karen while being well hydrated! Thank you.

We would also like to thank her husband James who is ushering for us at these performances while also extending our deepest sympathy to him from all of us!

Please donate here to help us pay tribute to Karen.
